Happy Birthday to the USA, and Me! (Almost)

Happy 4th of July to everyone out there who celebrates it! I hope if you got roped into any barbecues that you were able to restrict as much as possible. Luckily, we did nothing for the 4th this year, so that was good. I didn't even have dinner tonight! I was too hot to eat.

Tomorrow is my birthday. 24 years old. Yikes! I am getting up there! Tomorrow night will be hamburgers, salad, chips, and an ice cream cake from Ben & Jerry's. Ugh, kill me now. I am going to try to enjoy it and just not think about it, but we all know how easy that actually is. I just feel so fat, and this hot weather is not helping. I felt like a whale today, feeling so sticky from the humidity, and it just feels like my legs are holding onto every ounce of water they can possibly get. I hate this sort of humid weather :( But on the plus side, it did get me out of eating dinner this evening, so I must give credit where credit is due.

I went with my mom and my aunt to the Yankee Candle Factory in Deerfield, Mass. today. We made sandwiches for lunch, so I had to eat lunch. Bluhh. Anyway, the bread we had was that really hefty kind, whole wheat with all sorts of seeds in it, and 110 calories a slice. I am horrified by that bread. But again, I was forced into eating it, because my sandwich was made and packed for me. I hate having to eat just for show. My mom made me a turkey and cheddar with mustard, tomatoes, and dill pickles. Then when we got there and got out of the car to eat, she hands me my sandwich and says "Such a big sandwich for such a little girl!" Well, what am I supposed to say to that?? You are the one who made it, so if you though it was so big, why didn't you just make me a half sandwich? Such mixed signals; sometimes I don't know what to think. At times, it's like she thinks I need to eat more and am too skinny, and at other times, she seems like she thinks I am at a healthy weight. Whatever.

Tomorrow I begin my externship at my local vet clinic. I am going to be there Monday-Friday for this week and next. I am excited! I am such a dork, but I love spending my days in the clinic :) I guess I picked the right career! I will be there 8-5, so I am planning on no breakfast or lunch, and only liquids for the whole two weeks during those hours. That will also make tomorrow night's birthday dinner easier to stomach. I need to be super strict, because this Saturday is the wedding where I am getting set up with the doctor, and next Saturday is my uncle's wedding, and I want my family to see me looking nice and thin. And right now I feel nothing of the sort. I am hoping I can lose a few pounds before this Saturday, especially, so I will be feeling more confident when I meet this guy. I think Becca may be in on the work-day fast along with me, since she works the same hours. We were talking about it last night, so I hope she is in on it with me! Anyone else who wants to fast every day between the hours of 8-5 for the next two weeks is totally welcome too :) Let me know!

Well, I best get some sleep. I will need it if I am to last tomorrow in this sweltering heat wave!

Love you, Skinnies!

  1. Great news about the externship! I hope that goes well for you. Sorry for the heat! and...

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Don't worry about the bread. In my opinion, that bread will at least give you nutrition. In comparison to some bread that its all starch and sugar.

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I'm totally in! I didn't eat breakfast this morning because nothing sounded good at all- and for dinner I have grilled chicken, so getting through the next 6 hours should be nothing! :)

  10. I keep waiting to comment back until you post another blog... but whatever it's taking too long :) So here I am! I think you can totally lose 10 lbs before you get back to school. Completely doable (much more so that my plan of 70 lbs by Dec 1st... what am I thinking??).

Oh hey, and I don't know how you could have managed to run out of that store before you pooped your pants... I probably would have done it while I was trying to run. Good job!

I hope you have a fantastic day :)
