Diamonds

I helped deliver a calf today :) Best. Day. Ever. Well, one of the best. The best in a while! And she was a little girl calf, too! So cute. She had this big white diamond marking over her withers (shoulders). If I could name her, I would totally name her Diamond. I love baby animals!

This weekend was a huge fail. As much as I love my friends, they are really unknowingly working to sabotage all my efforts. Friday and Saturday were both awesome days, intake-wise, until 8pm. Friday night I got dragged out to the bars basically against my will and better judgment, got drunk, and ate I-forget-how-much popcorn, and three mini-Reese's cups. Saturday night was movie night, where one friend brought over gluten-free cookies she bought, and another friend made gluten-free apple bread from scratch especially for me. Add that to stale tortilla chips that I could not stop eating for some godforsaken reason, and I ate far too much. I need to be less polite and more rude. All of these situations could have been avoided if I just said "No, thanks", but I am too nice for that. At least today has been better. And tomorrow will be even better.

I am beginning to get really anxious about my next set of exams. I have approximately two weeks to learn and review all this junk, and I want stellar grades. This is just one of the things adding to my case of the Mean Reds lately. They've been with me for a few days now, and I can't put my finger on it. (If anyone doesn't know what the Mean Reds are, it's a reference from Breakfast at Tiffany's. Audrey Hepburn asks George Peppard if he has ever had the Mean Reds, and he doesn't know what they are. She tells him it's when suddenly you're afraid, and you don't know what you're afraid of. Breakfast at Tiffany's is one of my favorite movies, and I think calling anxiety the Mean Reds sounds much more chic and less mentally unstable, don't you?)

Alright, I'm going to bed. I've got a long day tomorrow.

Love you, Skinnies!

  1. I love Breakfast at Tiffanys. It's not like Audrey Hepburn was the best actress ever, but she seems so fragile and vulnerable...

Definitely get the Mean Reds from time to time.

I would have named her Diamond too! That's so cool you get to bring life into the world :)

  2. good luck tomorrow/today!!
you are strong and i know it.
tell your friends that stuffing yourself with junk food so late at night is literally making you sick. be up front about it. it seems to me as if they are already very understanding, so they should be able to gt what you're trying to say :)
remember, they're not evil, they're just your fun-loving friends who sometimes go a bit overboard, right??

  7. Good luck on the exams. You'll do great!

I hate when friends try to shove food down your throat. >:( It's one thing if they're eating and you end up caving in on your own, but when they actually make unnecessary comments and put junk food in front of you, that really makes me mad.

I can't believe you delivered a cow!! That must have been exciting. Cows make me nervous. ...Maybe because they're my number one major food group. There's something in their eyes that unsettles me--like they KNOW I've been eating their relatives. :D

  10. Breakfast at Tiffany's = <3
I horseback ride and it's SUPER challenging to explain body parts to people. Like withers are shoulders, hocks are, uhhh, knees? XD They all get so confused. Anyway, the calf birth must have been AMAZING :D Don't worry too much about your intake, just try to make it up the rest of this week! <3

    i actually love my course
i dislike the fact that i often dont bother to turn up but im getting there

if you want awesome grades kill 2 birds with one stone
refuse to go out (throw a bit of a strop if you have to) because you need to study
thus get awesome grades and avoid all friendly sabotage !

  14. it seems like even though you have more limited options with your new gluten-free diet your friends are specifically making you foods that you *can* eat... which is so counter-intuitive and unfair haha. it's hard to refuse food when it's made especially for you :0 and birthing a calf is so amazing! all baby animals are so cute hehe <3
