My Wins

I'm so happy that so many people liked my post and found it inspiring! You girls are all so wonderful and amazing :)

I didn't write last night like I said I would, because our upstairs neighbors had their annual Christmas party, and when my roommates and I got back, it was 11pm and I was very tired! I just ended up going to bed.

So, as promised, I kept a tally of my wins from yesterday. I was wearing a hoodie with one of those pockets in the front, so I kept my "Win" paper in it. It was kind of fun carrying it around with me all day!
  1. Not eating before noon
  2. Not having a mini candy bar when I got back from the mall (K has a communal candy dish on our living room bookshelf)
  3. Throwing out a box of cherry cordials that someone bought for me
  4. Having a non-fat latte instead of the mocha at Starbucks (mochas have waaaaayyy more calories)
  5. Not grabbing a handful of chocolate and butterscotch chips when I opened the tea cupboard and they were sitting right next to all the boxes of tea
  6. I noticed I was hungry at 2:16pm and I didn't eat anything until 5:52pm
  7. Only having two glasses of wine and a few M&Ms at the party last night
I think I am going to continue my win tally today as well. It's actually a lot of fun! It felt so good to not eat much of anything at the party last night, and just watch others stuff their faces. I also didn't know a lot of people there, which made it a lot easier to not eat. I hate eating around strangers; I get quite self-conscious that everyone is looking at me and judging me for what I am eating. I overheard this one girl say that she had eaten a light dinner in preparation for the party. I wanted to tell her that I had only eaten a few cubes of cheese for dinner, and that I still wasn't going to eat anything at the party, but of course I didn't.

Tonight is another party that is semi-holiday and semi-birthday, and this one is being thrown by friends, and I will know everyone there. This will make it a lot harder to control my eating, but I am going to bring my win tally with me, and hopefully carrying it around will make me feel stronger. In high school, I used to write on a piece of scrap paper every day "You will not eat at school or friend's houses" to keep as a constant reminder what I should and shouldn't do. This win tally will be a variation of that.

Well, I am going to make some coffee and get started in on my mountains of notes to study and review. I hope everyone has a great day!

Love you, Skinnies!

  1. I hate eating at parties, too. Especially as it always seems to be finger foods and hors d'oeuvres that get so messy.
Good luck at the party tonight!

My win yesterday was not having anything at my friend's house, including the three foods she wanted me to eat: nachos (gaaahhhh...), chocolate cookies (ooomg), and a sandwich (stoooopppp)
