I completely forgot to write about my car troubles that happened on Friday! I was waiting at the light to turn into my condo complex, and it was a left hand turn, so I had to wait for all the cars coming straight until I had a clearing to turn left. All these cars were coming, and then there was a gap, but I wasn't sure if it was enough to be able to go. So I hesitated a little bit, and then the car behind me honked because he was getting impatient or something. That made me anxious and freak out a little, so I went. Then I realized the car that was coming towards me was coming a lot faster than I originally realized, so I gunned it and turned the wheel really hard to get out of the way.
Suddenly, I noticed a weird noise, like a sloshing noise. It sounded like a bunch of ice water sloshing around in a big plastic tub. Great.
I drive a Saab, and I get my car serviced back home, because it still has the warranty on it, and my family has been taking our cars to that dealership for a long time. I don't know of any mechanics here, but I pulled out the phone book and found a Saab specialist in town. I called them up to see if I could come in that day, but they were really backed up, and the earliest I can come in is Tuesday. I scheduled the appointment, and they told me from what I am describing that it sounds like a shock or strut blew, and that it is okay to drive it.
Yesterday, my friend called me, because the dogs had gotten out at her house, and she couldn't find one. She wanted to know if I could drive around and look for him. I said sure, and K and I got in my car and started driving around. We were driving past these guys doing some yardwork, and they flagged us down. We pulled over, because we thought maybe they had seen Zeus, the dog. They hadn't seen Zeus, but they did think I was dragging something under my car. A ha! The noise! One guy crawled under my car, and somehow I managed to snap a piece of the plastic undercarriage off that protects the mechanical parts of the car, and it was still attached on the other side, so was dragging along and making the noise. The guy kind of tucked the broken side up, and when I drove away the noise was gone!
So now I know the problem, and I just need to get it fixed.
I am planning on eating as little as I can today. I am going to have a mini bagel now for breakfast (150 cals) with some whipped cream cheese (50 cals for 2 tablespoons), so 200 cals, and then I am going to try to avoid food for the rest of the day. Maybe some EggBeaters later if I think I need some. We'll see!
Love you, Skinnies!

I'm glad you figured out the problem! Last time I took my car in, they found all these things that needed to be fixed...but I didn't have the money to get them done, so I'm just hoping it doesn't break down between now and graduation! (I asked my family if my graduation present could be the car repairs. I was super surprised when my mom agreed.)
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your food plan for the day! I have been wanting to try EggBeaters for a while now. Maybe I'll pick some up next time at the store.
P.S. I gave you a sunshine award. :) I know I don't comment much on your blog, but you are always so positive. I love reading your posts. So I felt like you deserved the award.
Ohh my I'm glad it was a simple problem. At first while I was reading I thought for sure you got into an accident! I was in an accident, trying to turn left, in the pouring rain. It was awful. Left turns are cursed.
ReplyDeleteBut I am so relieved that you are okay, and that your car seems to be okay as well! Good luck with your eating today! Sounds like you have a good plan :)
Ugg, car trouble sucks, but I'm glad that the problem isn't that bad. Good luck with your intake today!
ReplyDeleteI thought for sure you were going to say you got in a car crash! > < Least it wasn't too serious ^^
